THE INSPIRATION OF THE REGION
Other than being one of the greatest repositories of fine art in the world, Tuscany is also known for it's breathtaking landscapes, fine wine and cheese. Golden rolling hills dot the landscape along with magnificent Cypress trees. Winding roads are a common site most of which lead to outstanding wineries.
The most popular wine produced in Tuscany is Chianti. Red, strong and bold, Chianti is the iconic italian wine with a wicker basket around the bottle. Chianti is a "fruity" wine, and appeals to a wide variety of wine drinkers. Cheese is among the great typical foods of Tuscany. Each region has it's own particular cheese production. There are five large families of Tuscan cheese: Goat Cheese, Pecorino, Raviggiolo, Ricotta and Caciotta.
No description of Tuscany would be complete without mention of the rich abundance of fresh produce the region produces. Grapes, olives and tomatoes thrive in the perfect climate and rich soil, growing wild across the countryside. |
